Water does not ask for our attention. It simply sustains us.

It is the source from which all life emerges and to which all life returns — the great connector that binds us to this planet. It is the foundation of all life — the force behind every living thing.  Every trickle, splash and every crashing wave carries its own mauri — a life force distinct and alive. Every body of water holds wairua, a spirit that speaks to those who pause long enough to listen.

The Water Project is an attempt to see it. To feel its weight, its stillness, its power. To honour water not merely as a resource, but as a living, breathing entity deserving of reverence.
