The Northern Gateway, a modern marvel of engineering, stretched ahead. It wasn't just a road; it was a transition, a deliberate shedding of urban skin. The car plunged into the belly of the earth, swallowed by the gleaming, artificial canyon of the Northern Gateway tunnel. The smooth, grey walls rushed past, a blur of concrete and fluorescent light, punctuated by the rhythmic pulse of overhead lamps. It was a strange, exhilarating sensation. The white lines on the asphalt became streaks, pulling the vehicle forward with an almost magnetic force. The light at the far end, initially a distant pinprick, grew rapidly, distorting into an impossibly bright, expanding circle. It wasn't just approaching; it was surging towards them, a destination accelerating to meet its traveler.
